Jesse Keller: Contemporary Modern
Resident Director of Island Programs and Education Jesse Keller draws from various dance techniques that include: contemporary, modern-jazz, ballet, and yoga;
that have inspired her throughout her dance career. Class starts with a pre warm-up in the center which is inspired from Bartenieff Fundamentals and yoga, in order to loosen the body and prepare it for a contemporary
ballet barre. The barre helps you discover your standing leg through classical movements with a contemporary twist on the upper body.
This prepares the body for center which consist of across the floor and learning a piece of set choreography. Dancers are encouraged to challenge their
technique with accuracy and precision, but invited to discover their own unique identity in the movement.

Alison Manning: Horton
Associate Director and General Manager of The Yard Dance Colony, Alison Manning also dances professionally in New York City and teaches the Horton technique
at Peridance Capezio Center. In this class, technical precision is balanced with flow, breath, and physical athleticism through the Horton vocabulary.
The main focus of the class is moving expansively. Manning invites students to experience the Horton technique as a form of dance that moves, breathes,
and flows through a structured warm up, into a learned combination, drawing on technical elements from the class.

New York-based Jones is a member of CoreDance Contemporary dance company as well as Development and Management Associate at The Yard. Jones leads dancers
through a high-energy contemporary fusion class with elements of improvisation, modern, ballet, and jazz. The class will investigate contemporary technique with a
sense of humor and curiosity. The class begins with a loosely structured warm up followed by center combinations and across the floor sequences culminating in a fun
movement phrase that challenges dancers both physically and artistically.
The Yard's space for Yoga, Community Dance Class and Kids’ Theater is simply wonderful... with all the doors open,
the fresh air streaming in and the birds chirping, this is simply the best kept secret on the island!"
